The ‘2009 European Diode-Pumped Solid State Laser Technology Innovation of the Year Award’, is presented to KLASTECH GmbH (KLASTECH). Manufacturers of DPSS lasers address challenges, particularly with energy efficiency and reliability, in many ways. Instead of looking for new manufacturing technologies like its competitors, KLASTECH reviewed the fundamentals of a laser’s optical scheme for visible light generation. The company identified the frequency doubling process as highly affecting the overall laser efficiency.
KLASTECH proposed a novel optical scheme to meet the challenge of impedance mismatch between the laser cavity and the frequency doubling cavity. With such an approach, a significant part of the internal laser losses was reduced simultaneously increasing the efficiency; also the alignment tolerances regimewas released giving more reliability.
KLASTECH’s intra-cavity impedance matched laser technology allows end-users to experience high quality, particularly single frequency beam generation, for a considerably reducede price, because the quality comes out from the design itself rather than from keeping very tight tolerances or involving advanced manufacturing processes.
KLASTECH was founded in 2005 by Professor Fedor Karpushko, who invented the Intra-cavity Impedance-Matched Amplification Tuned laser technology.
